Veresen Design started in 2023 in a shared office above a print shop in Hockley. Marcus Thornfield left his agency gig and began teaching layout and CSS to small groups on weekday evenings. Word got around. By 2024 we'd hired Sophie and Daniel and moved into our own space on Hospital Street.
We're seven people now. Everyone still does client work alongside teaching — that's not a side detail, it's the whole point. The web changes fast. If you're not building things for real clients, your course material goes stale within a year.
We keep cohorts small (8 max), courses short (3–6 weeks), and feedback direct. Over 160 students have come through since we started. Some work at agencies now. Some went freelance. A few just wanted to stop being afraid of CSS, and that's fine too.
